ritorno al topLau Tang Ching (Raymond Lau) Chair Dr Lau Tang Ching is working as a Consultant Rheumatologist in the National University Hospital (NUH), Singapore. He is the head of the rheumatology division since 2009, Assistant Dean (education) of Yong Loo Ling School of Medicine, and Associate CMB (education) for NUH since June 2010. He graduated in 1991 from the National University of Singapore and is a fellow of the Academy of Medicine Singapore (rheumatology) since 2001 and the Royal College of Physician (Edinburgh) since 2004. He holds a MMedSc degree in Clinical Epidemiology (University of Newcastle, Australia), and a graduate diploma degree in acupuncture. He is the president of the Osteoporosis Society (Singapore) and the vice-chairman of the National Arthritis Foundation. As there are medical evidences that taichi for health exercises are proven to improve joint pain and function, prevent falls and osteoporosis, he is keen to promote this exercise in Singapore and the Asian region. back to the top

Margaret was appointed to the position of Chief Executive of Age Concern Stockport early in 1995 and has established a respected reputation for openness, integrity and positive partnership working.Margaret has shown great commitment and dedication to preventative activities both in her work and personal life, and particularly champions’ tai chi for health across the many sectors she works in partnership with. Through her work she has innovated and established groundbreaking preventative non-clinical programmes earning national recognition.
Margaret has played an interested role in the development of the Institute from its beginnings. She has used her considerable knowledge skills and experience both as a lawyer and as a Chief Executive in a leading voluntary organisation to benefit the thinking and the eventual structure, principles and policy of the Institute. Carolyn first began practicing Tai Chi in 2004 and first learned of Dr. Paul LamXCHARXs Tai Chi for Health programs from his videos. Once she attended her first week-long workshop in 2008, she knew she had found her Tai Chi family. She teaches TCA in workplace wellness programs, and is interested in the ways that Tai Chi for Health programs can help people achieve more balanced and healthy lives, even in stressful work environments. She serves on the Board of the U.S. Tai Chi for Health Community.
Carolyn has been a Law Professor, teaching Business Law, Ethics, and International Law for more than twenty-five years. She is currently the Dean of the Faculty at Babson College, a business school known for its entrepreneurship programs and its educational innovation.
ritorno al top Rani Hughes Rani Hughes is working as a private occupational therapist in Melbourne, Australia. With 15 years experience of learning and teaching tai chi and mindfulness, she wants to bring these mind/body practices into main-stream health. Rani has worked closely with various Arthritis Foundations in Australia to actively promote, educate and research Dr. Lam’s modified Tai Chi for Health programs. She has been involved on other Boards including Vipassana Insight Mediation Foundation, UN Day of Vesak (Melbourne) and most recently on the Tai Chi for Health Institute Board. Rani would like to be involved with a global approach to promote modified tai chi as a safe and effective tool for the growing number of people experiencing chronic illness around the world. She would be honoured to serve on the Tai Chi for Health Board. back to the top Jocelyn Simpson Jocelyn Simpson has been involved with Dr. Lam’s Tai Chi for Health programs since 2006 as a class participant, then an instructor, now a Senior Trainer and Board member, bringing a unique grassroots perspective to the Board. She strongly believes in the mission of TCHI and works to spread that mission throughout the communities within which she serves in the greater Atlanta metro area and beyond. Jocelyn serves on the Programs Committee of the Arthritis Foundation Southeast Region and works closely with the Program Director. As a member of the Board, Jocelyn hopes to contribute even more to help build the future of TCHI and preserve its heritage. Jocelyn holds a BA degree from Ohio University as a political science major with a business administration minor. She continued her post-graduate studies at Roosevelt University in Chicago and worked as a paralegal for several years before entering the health and wellness arena.back to the topPhilomena KaarmaPhilomena [Philo] Kaarma was encouraged to join the Better Health Tai Chi Chuan School in Sydney, Australia by her husband Mati, it is the best thing they have ever done, apart from marrying, with the fantastic instructors it has been a wonderful journey that will not end for
some time.Philo is currently employed by the South Western Sydney Area Health Service for 15 years being involved in nursing research and for the past 3 years as research assistant at the cardiovascular research department, Liverpool Hospital, Sydney. An important motto ‘to give back when you can’ is a part of her philosophy, and Philo has been the Editor of the BHTCC school newsletter for two years and previously was the Editor of the ‘Het Blatdje’, the newsletter for the Australian Dutch community. Philo was previously the Chairman of the Albury Wodonga SBS Working Party Committee and served on the committee for the 50 Year Celebration of Back to Bonegilla, Australia’s biggest and longest surviving migrant centre. Philo Kaarma is very excited to be involved in the Tai Chi for Health Institute, with her strong interest in health research; she would love to see Tai Chi as a way of life for the world’s population, being a healthy addition to our modern lifestyle. back to the top
